written and conceived as a secular response to Dante Alighieri's 1314-15 "La Commedia", artist, film maker and poet David Hughes embarks on a journey from 'inferno' - mental pain, through 'purgatory' to 'paradise', an imagined state of perfect love and final, exultant death.
As Virgil was Dante's guide, David Hughes imagines that Alighieri himself now takes the twenty first century poet through a parallel, metaphoric journey in the internet age, from 'info-hell' to the euphoric final mental state of 'paradise'.
For Hughes the drawn, photographic and digitally 'downloaded' images become the starting point for an extraordinary creative journey. The work itself maps this strange meta-narrative voyage.
Ultimately the 'still' images becomes a series of fluid, moving 'paintings' edited in film form, to be sensitively complemented by Daniel Messore's original soundtrack.
